On the morning of Tuesday 20th June 2006 our beautiful six
year old son
Jack left for school as normal and as he had so
many
times before with
his big sister Abigail and me his mum.
We had no way of knowing that it would be the last time that
he
would
leave our house walking.
Unbeknown to us, Jack was suffering from a serious heart
condition
called Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy
(HOCM)
which only a few hours later took his life for some
30 minutes,
and as a result robbed him of the ability to
see, talk, walk, eat
and do anything for himself.
Had it not been for the quick and skilled actions of 4 staff
and a parent at his school in administering first aid, and
calling the emergency services who dispatched the
Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance
Helicopter,
Jack would not be with us today.
I would not be able to
hold him in my arms,
cuddle him or tuck him up in bed at
night and
life would be so devastatingly different.

Our lives, and without doubt the lives of others were never to
be the same again, and were changed in a moment.
Wwe have learned to look at
life
very differently and to
not take things for granted.
We have also learned some amazing lessons along the
way,
and met some fantastic and wonderful people too.
I think is has also given us a more real perspective on
life and understanding of what really is important.
